Catherine - They are definitely messy - I have an area about 30' x 15' with a small pond and a duck house where I keep them when I am not with them in my garden. Yes, they would make a huge mess in my garden and make nice little holes all over the place. Also, since I posted this three of them have flown south for the winter and I'm fairly sure Matthew Pagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13023917090686170340noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8908126654217301463.post-48039950821854768662011-09-09T14:37:01.151-06:002011-09-09T14:37:01.151-06:00Hi Matt I love ducks BUT will they trash your gard...Hi Matt I love ducks BUT will they trash your garden with those ever so webbed feet, nibbling bills and acid duck poo? Keep us posted whether or not they stick around for the winter.Karin / Southern Meadowshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06514989784715204223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8908126654217301463.post-5382549981539087222011-09-06T19:40:17.224-06:002011-09-06T19:40:17.224-06:00That is sooooo cool. I do hope they fly south though, but if they do, I bet they come back as spring rolls around. Ducks up here have stayed the winter. They grow so accustomed to people feeding them, they become year round residents, but it is not actually good for the ducks.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8908126654217301463.post-50651672891626168132011-09-05T19:28:26.403-06:002011-09-05T19:28:26.403-06:00How fun! They've never ventured to the backyard pond, though. They usually go to my neighbors' pool, much to their chagrin. The plantings around your pond look very happy. I'm noticing especially the Rudbeckia. Mine did not do so Toni - Signature Gardenshttp://signaturegardens.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.com
